Casting Call for R&D of The hero next door
Face Front are looking for two actors for the research and development of a new play called ‘The Hero Next Door’ for 7 – 10 year olds by award winning children’s author Onjali Q Rauf (who wrote ‘The Boy At The Back Of The Class’) Both actors will need to be imaginative, creative and have professional acting experience.
Actor 1: A female presenting adult actor who will play an Autistic child, Haley, who is 10 years old.
Actor 2: A male presenting actor who will play ‘Grandad’ who is 80 years old.
Children across the UK have been involved in devising the plot and characters for ‘The hero next door’ which went through its first period of research and development in 2021. The play explores themes of friendship, empathy, and the notions of what it means to be an ‘outsider’. At the heart of the play is a young boy, Musa, who happens to be a refugee; Haley, an autistic young girl who adores frogs, and a would-be bully by the name of Melanie. This unlikely bunch come together to save an elderly neighbour from a con-woman posing as a carer, with thrilling and hilarious results.
The actor will join us for a week of R+D from 9th- 12th May 2022. in Edmonton (North East London)
