Spotlight on Placement student Kaitlin

My name is Kaitlin and I am currently a Third year student at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, studying a BA in Drama, Applied Theatre and Education. I am so excited to have been placed with Face Front Inclusive Theatre for the next couple of months!

At the time of writing I have been with Face Front for a week, I have met 6 of the 8 groups that Face Front hosts. I have loved getting to meet such a wonderful range of people. We have had so much fun playing lots of games and trying different Drama exercises to practice different theatre skills such as character work, improvisation and projection.

Since being at Central I have been fortunate to have had my fair share of amazing placements which meant I knew that working for an inclusive theatre company was exactly what I wanted to do! I have so far enjoyed the challenges of adapting exercises and sessions to meet the needs of each group. But most of all I have enjoyed witnessing the joy and true sense of family there is at Face Front. Each session is a privilege to be a part of and you truly never know what might happen next!

I am looking forward to spending more time working with each group as well as working on pantomimes with both InterACTion and the Blue Sky Actors. Another exciting opportunity I have is to come along to some of the ‘It’s My Move’ schools tour happening later this term. I have been a part of a schools tour previously but can’t wait to see what a Face Front Tour looks like!

And finally I’d just like to say thank you to everyone for making me feel so welcome and immediately a part of the Face Front family! I am so grateful to be here! But I will leave you with my initial takeaway from my first week at Face Front:  Applied Theatre is so vital in todays world, it brings joy and light and plenty of laughter and it is essential to have a great selection of snacks at every single session!!
