Spotlight on Placement Gianluca
Hello, My name is Gianluca and I recently completed a one-week work placement at Face Front.
During the week, I took part in three different groups: the Bridge Group, the Silence Group, and the Interaction Group. Each one was different but they are all focused on building confidence and communication skills and ensuring well-being. What stood out to me was that people were given time and space to respond in their own way instead of expecting everyone to act quickly.
The games we played were a lot of fun! They are designed to encourage social interaction and made it easier to speak and interact with others because there was a clear structure. I didn’t have to think as much about what to say, which reduced pressure. It helped me feel more involved in the group.
Throughout the placement, I observed how staff supported each individual differently depending on their needs. They really do care, they were patient and adapted their approach, which made a noticeable difference. This showed me how important it is to be inclusive and recognise that people communicate in different ways.
Overall, this work placement was a valuable learning experience. I will miss everyone there and will make sure to visit soon!
