Spotlight on Placement Student Sophie
My name is Sophie, I have been on placement with Face Front for this term and it is unfortunately almost over. I have had the pleasure of having a well-rounded experience with this company and getting to know so many amazing people.
I am currently in my last year studying Drama, Applied Theatre and Education at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. My course is mixing community theatre and education in one course, giving me an overarching view of the different subjects. Being on a placement at Face Front has been the kind of hands-on experience I needed, the skills I had learnt here I would be able to apply to future careers.
I had the pleasure of being able to join five of their workshop groups: Dream Team, Bridge group, Broken silence, Blue Sky Actors, and DDM. Being in so many groups has allowed my confidence as a facilitator and participant to flourish in so many ways. I was able to assist in creative support, social media, and admin, getting a whole experience of running a company like Face Front. The experience working in an inclusive and intergenerational theatre company has been a challenge in all the best ways as it has taught me about being adaptable and adjusting to any situation. Being able to see first hand how theatre can bring people who may be different closer together as creatives but also friends and sometimes maybe even more than that.
Throughout this placement I have had so many important experiences, to participants and Face Front I thank everyone I have had the pleasure of meeting. I see how passionate everyone is about theatre and Face Front and I hope it always stays. I will miss hearing the wise words everyone has to say.
