Spotlight on Millie

My name  is Millie and I volunteered at Face Front for two weeks for the rehearsal process and performance of Quixote. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with everyone, learning so much about the company and hope that in the future I can come and volunteer again. Everyone was very welcoming from the start and I loved getting to know everyone and their individual characters.

I am currently studying theatre and performance at university and have a real interest in inclusive theatre and how effective it can be. My two weeks at Face Front was brilliant as it led me to gain physical experience where I was able to develop new skills and gain lots of advice. It has left me even more interested than ever to work and volunteer in inclusive theatre.

This company is so inspiring and emphasises how important theatre is to all, and how it should be for all! Learning how theatre can truly enhance people’s soft skills and create a space where everyone can leave whatever is going on in their life at the door and just fully go for it.

Millie sat with some of the costumed cast of Quixote. She is sat on the far right of the image and wearing her costume of a light blue t-shirt, and navy trousers. Everyone is smiling and some are finishing off a snack before going to perform the first of our shows.

Face Front has such a healthy, positive environment where everyone can be themselves. This is such a powerful factor as to why I think Face Front thrives. I enjoyed how members of Face Front brought in elements of what they like to do in their free time into the performance, such as singing and dancing. The energy and effort thrown into this performance was amazing and when it came to the final performance everyone’s hard work paid off!

Thank you to everyone at Face Front for being so welcoming, I had such a great time with you all. Especially Ray and SJ thank you for giving me the opportunity to volunteer, what you are doing is incredibly empowering!
